Elearning Future Survey

The following is a survey designed to give you an opportunity to let us know what you think education in the future will look like... The educational community is struggling trying to decide what education will look like in the future. There are and will be meetings of education officials looking at the way we educate and looking for answers. I think it is important that we ask students what they think, hence this survey. Please answer the questions as truthfully as possible and maybe your words will help guide the education of the future... How old are you?
1-10 years of age
11-13 years of age
14-16 years of age

1I think it was interesting, and very true.
10I think they are right and about learning off of anything.
100Future education needs to meet the needs of the educators and the students
101I believe that as society evolves, so should our education. We should offer unique corses to keep people interested and update our courses. As long as we want to learn. we will learn. I think that if we aren't being taught everything that we should know, that we are just being hurt. It is hard to advance in society if we don't update our curriculums. I think that maybe by having a digital class, while you are still in a classroom, but you use computers and such. Also, I believe that teachers should learn how to use computers and to give digital assignments.
102I for the most part agree with this entire video. I feel that digital is the way of the future, and internet and computers, along with the technology, programs, systems, etc must be utilized properly with education now. Of course, there is a limit to what can be done on a computer, and I still feel that face-to-face contact beats a computer any day. But even given the facts in the video, especially the one about I think it said 80% IM someone in the same room. That's a pretty sad truth I think, but nevertheless in happening. So, computers (I think) should be used in education, but there still has to be some sort of balance.
103Not really thinking about it.
104I think that the video makes a very good point. Teachers of today try to prepare us for the world we will eventually go out into, but they honesty don't know themselves because our world changes so fast. I believe that using technology as a tool will greatly enhance the learning capabilities of students either in a classroom setting or at home. My school has three smartboards and I know that they are used a lot, because they allow the teacher to show basically whatever he or she is thinking. They are very handy to have and it is more fun for students to watch than a whiteboard because there are so many things that can be done with them.
105Made me Think about education in a differant way.
106yeah..i all i agree every speech that it says, as they say "education is the key for success" and i believe that education make our future. We the generation of X should love our education........
107i think schools are overpopulated, and there is students reachng out to other education things, and more are becoming fuller easiler and many students dont know what to do. so they re stuck in the same classs, wile others want to be ahead, and some dont care. i think the person is mentally troubled whoever said that we are "wired" and i doint see any scientists prove this, its like 2012 "everyone is gonna die" . personally, there is others that are exceeding circum expectations, and others want to go to other educational things, but they are full or the guidance counsellors dont undertand what they want to do nor will they let them. i also think that everyone learns diffently and isnt learning as fast as others are, and may not understand what the teacher is teaching because the teacher moves to quickly throughout the semeser. technolgy takes a good part of our lives and when something is created everyone has to have it, its like the smart board, it helps student learn more easily, and some students prefer to use computers because everything is so much easier and writing would be more readable.
108I kind of hope that the internet is just a fad but we continue to use it frequently but not taking over lives, leaving us less active, doing more school on the computer or continuing to have our social lives on it. I like the idea of doing some things on the computer but i also like learning in a classroom where some peers have the same questions as me.
11I can't watch the video because my school's internet filter blocks it (which I really don't appreciate).
110i cant access the video
111I think it sends a really good message on where education is heading but it doesn't have a solution to the problem. Internet is taking over and some of the issues of school is out dated, that is why the internet is used.
113this was very inspirational and i think that it makes a lot of sense because the future is unpredictable. High School may be irrelevant because people are starting to not care.
115I think the video says a lot about today's schooling. As students we are faced with so much. We are a decade ahead of our parents and teachers in terms of technology, and because its such a demand these days, we have to incorapte in our schools. Without technology, I think us as students would be lost. It as changed the way we do things, go about things, and will very well change ways of teaching.
116i think that society is advancing faster than we expected and education is far behind.
118Very interesting.
119This is very interesting. Its weird how it could be possible with no school in school.. just learning some other ways. It might work for some people, but not for others. I cant even imagine how many things can change in the future.. how many things can change from what we know. I dont get how it says that we're wired differently than older people are.. People say how we only use 10% of our brains.. does this change now? But yes.. we do have alot of more digital things going on..
12I do believe school technology has changed the way school will be taught and continue to change with technology growing everyday. I think it's for the best
120I agree that school can not teach all the student's what they need to know! It's hard to learn when you have 30 to 40 kids in a class because the teacher can't get to every student that needs help. I also feel like some teacher's have the attitude where if you dont understand well that's to bad and we'll just help the kids that do understand. Or another one is where teacher give reviews out and whats on the review is not on the exam. It as if the teachers dont want you to be smarter than they are!
121not bad
122I think they are planning on making school a lot harder.
123I think that the technology is growing quickly, instead of things being big, its getting really small.
124First of all, I think that this is an awesome video that needs to be shared!!! I think technology would help prepare people for the future, considering it is growing and most likely will be a big part of the future! It is very true that there isn't the best modern technology used to learn in a classroom, and there isn't much learning about what's on the internet and what is and isn't safe online. Lastly, technology seems to be always just a half a step ahead of what can be taught in a classroom, so it would be an amazing tool to help people not just know how to use it, but learn tons from being online!
125I think Technology is great for our future but it takes away a lot of things that we do now, like spending time in the outdoors that the school offers. People learn at their own pace. I think if there was a choice whether we want to learn at school or just like cyber school it'll be great, but for only certain subjects. Then at school we can just learn about things that are more hands on.
126I agree that we do need to rethink the way we are educating the youth because we can learn pretty much anything through the internet now a days, but we also need to remember the importance of youth and not to overwhelm it with school at such a young age. School has become not fun and a stressful environment partially because society has changed and new discoveries have been made. Hopefully there will be a way to educate children to meet the new standard of learning without overwhelming them!
127I think that schools are going to evolve over the next few years, with so many concerned people about the education; and teachers who are teaching their children and how or what their teaching. But I don't think the education we're getting now are ruining us. Most people have done great for themselves, while they've had completed high school or elementary school. I just think different children need to be taught other ways then others, by face to face or in a class room or on line. I think it all depends on the persons strengths. And what they need to understand the education we're learning. It has nothing to do with the teachers or education we're being taught. In my opinion.
128Education will hopefully be better than what it is today
129I agree that the school system could take a remodel. I don't think that it is very progressive. I agree that technology in the school environment will enhance the learning experience. I do not think it eradicates the needs for teachers, but makes every one's job easier. But at the same time I don't think we should become dependant on technology. Resourcefullness should also be shown in a classroom. If someone ever needs to face a situation with outtechnology, they would need to be prepared to do so.
13I think it is a wise idea
130The video certainly made me think and what i have realized is that in class one of my teachers more times then not needs someones help to find the information for the lesson when it is on a computer.
131Only students know what pace they can learn it. Education should benefit the way students learn best. Be it face to face, cyber school or a combination of both. technology is advancing and we cannot do anything about it. Instead we should teach students the way they learn best. We need options, not spoon-fed education.
132The video makes sense.
133I do believe that the school system is outdated. It needs to become new age to keep the interest of the youth it is teaching. We are the tech age and we need more interactive teaching. I am not too big on the technology but I know youth my age are, to learn they need the system to adapt to them, it will cost a lot but not providing them with what they need to learn will cost more in the long run
134I think that teachers could learn to use the internet as a tool to teach. But teachers are still needed to guide and supervise. Teachers could use the internet to teach...more kids today will proablly be interested if a computer is used than books are used. So I think that teachers should not be replaced with computers. I think that computers can help teachers if teachers know how to use them.
135Wow, I'm shocked! The young boy has a good point about the uses of the internet. If people don't use the internet wisley, bad things can happen. I do think that the "old fashioned way" of education is no longer in use because of the technology.
136interesting video. i agree with it. i am learning a lot from cyber school. i like learning at home, its comfortable, i can't miss anything or any of the steps. I think its a lot more work though. the long tests are very hard and time consuming. I'm doing way more math homework than all my friends at school.
137I think that what some of them are saying is that we have all been raised with computers and things that are digital where most adults were raised without, they're saying most of us are on the computer all the time, and using tools on the computer such as google instead of reading the textbook. It's a digital age. Kids are on facebook or playing video games instead of getting up and going outside to paly. I mean when my Dad was kid they didn't have computers in every house and when they were bored they couldn't just walk over to the computer sit down and start playing a game,or listen to music, if they were bored, their only option was pretty much to bundle up and go outside.
138The world is becoming more technology reliant, it would be more harmful for the school system to stay behind and do things the old way than it would be to progress with the rest of technology.
139I glad people are starting to htink of the future of education. Hopefully it will grow better, easier, and more challenging.
14I agree with everything that Bill Gates said
141i think it is a true statement that the video revealed. i have learned more in my online course than any other course i have taken.
142I agree with this video, I believe that schools need to be adjusted in a huge way. For example when i was in junior high school we had the special needs kids brought back into our class rooms, they should not be in the same class room because they learn differently. They were slowing our class down because they had all the attention. Student should be around people that learn at the same rate that way they aren't held back or rushed. Also class sizes are too big last time I was in school my classes had 40 plus people. Children right now do not take school seriously, they don't think about their future. The point that teachers must become more creative and up to speed with the students to keep their attention. I don't think that technology replaces a good teacher, technology cannot inspire children the way a good teacher can. Teachers create life long learners in the way teachers can.
143I totally agree. They need to put kids into classrooms according to how they learn. They need to use technology. More classes should be like the cyber classes.
144I think that technology definitely needs to be taught better in school for the future that our children are going to be raised in but it can NOT be the sole focus for education kids still need discipline and focus similar to how schools are now but changes do need to be made because there are several kids who get out into the real world after high school and have no idea how to live in it and it’s not all on the teachers it’s got to be on the parents as well and that’s where a lot of problems lie the lack of communication between parents and teachers if the parents don’t care about the child’s education why will the child. I think that technology courses as well as language courses should be mandatory in all schools because not everyone speaks English and if you travel it makes things easier. This world is continuously changing and teachers and parents need to start adapting to that change because otherwise students are going to stop learning all together fix the problems of today to build a stronger better community tomorrow.
145pooor
146I think Bill Gates, schools in North America are indeed obsoletes
147I think that schools today should incorporate technology into the classroom. Although I think that teaching how to use the internet safely is important, I think that it is more a priority that children are placed not according to age, but to capability to learn.
148The future will be great, but we have to keep upgrading the technology and ways of teaching as the young of today live with new technology. We are more interested in something thats new, istead of the old paper and pen.
149Very cool.
15i think technology is becoming a big part of education
150I think they have good points, and that cyber school is better for some people especially if they need to learn at their own pace and work independently.
151The internet is a permanent change. In order to get a job you must know how to use a computer. thus computers need to be a part of education. This also means educating students about the predators that are out there, and to acknowledge that predators are not just people we chat to, but the links and pictures that we click too. Learning online allows the student to learn at his/her own pace, on his/her own time, and allows them to learn valuable computer skills as well as gain the ability to perceiver and finish something without a constant reminder.
152i think it is really good
16I think that its important to educate, but also to let students grow and create new answers and new ways of thinking.
17I think it is true, but that it is not very appropriate and well organized. If you want smarter children I suggest you look at how other countries do it, through hard work and very fast paced education system. Being Romania I know this to be true, not to insult i mean no harm but a Romanian youth of 16 years old is smarter the any Canadian person of his age. Cyber school is not necessarily the answer but it does help. In order to increase intellect, the brain must be stressed not necessarily to its limits, but stressed none the less. Consider making a site that is easy to navigate and interesting to browse. If you want i can design a site for you. I know C++ and can construct sites perhaps if you are interested contact me.
18i agree with the kid. we should not be made to be sat in a classroom all day, but, i also think that the time should not be spent on computers either. Kids should be tought how to play hockey, football, baseball, etc. or anything they want to do. It should be their/our choice on what to do and when to do it.
19I like it, I agree that technology has somewhat helped students nowadays learn and keep forcused with learning on what they are most interested in.
20I think this is true, teachers should know about technology and computers, but most do, at least in my school. I also think that it may be a good idea to change around schools, but to get rid of them all together leaves out many important things that kids need to know, like interaction with other people.
21I agree that the teachers have to meet us half way. Our world is continually changing and technology has become a large part of our world. The teachers need to teach the students how to operate that technology.
22:)
23
24i think that the education system will be so advanced in next 10-20 years and the youth of next generation will have the best education.
25Well, to start off, I must admit that I am an old school style of student. I believe that given good curriculum and a thoughtful teacher that any student can achieve an understanding of any topic out there. Technology can help in this process but also hinder it. A teacher can have one of those new Smartboards and show their students a cool interactive blackboard which seems helpful. But if you take into account the time spent starting the thing along with getting the programs working along with finding the manual on how to use the thing, you may as well just get a chalk out and start drawing on an old fashioned blackboard. I don't believe technology helps us to understand anything faster but rather helps us to understand it in a different way. As for other technologies like cell phones and whatnot, I believe that they serve no other purpose than to be a distraction. Cell phones in the classroom coupled with the idea of having a computer for every student brings up to mind an instant way to cheat not to learn. And if school boards to motivatinal thinkers say that teachers are not an important resource or are just people who give checks and x's all day, well they should remember how they got to their position first, by being taught by a teacher. Teachers encompass the idea that all children are unique in their method and intellects and will never be replaced by a machine.
26Sometimes classes and teachers are better than computer learning. We need to communicate with people, so we can not put all the classes into cyber school. We can not use computer to learn all the time.
27personally i think you can't underestimate how valuable one on one learning can be. Online learning is useful to a point. Some students learn best by teachers and not by themselves. I find that learning from teachers the best way to learn, I struggle learning from textbooks as those are usually saturated with way to many words. I find them to be explaining simple concepts in extremely wordy ways. From my experiences in online classes, I have found that having multiple ways of learning (ie, i have a textbook if i want, I can google or youtube the concepts i don't understand, I can ask my physics/math teacher here at my school for help if i don't understand and of course learning straight from the website curriculum.) to be an excellent way to learn. My experiences in online classes have been positive, I have found the only draw back to online classes is the quiz material. In quiz's online, there is always the probability that you might answer the question in a way that isn't correct, even though it might be technically right, just written a little off. Not only this, but there is no room for showing that I'm doing my work properly and only achieving marks for getting the correct answer.
28I strongly support what was presented in this video. I feel that teachers should be up to par with technology and working with the students.
3the truth is... technology is the future. on line schooling lets the student go at his/her own pace. not every person wants to learn at the same place and same time. i think in the future school will be..... on line.
30I completely agree :)
31I think that taechers are teaching us everything we need because the teachers I have are teaching lots and lots of stuff. I understand what they're saying and how to do it later. And the new Math is okay, but parts of it doesn't make sense.
32I think that the new search is gonna be pretty cool and interesting
33educational...
34I believe this video is correct, when we can learn anything we want at anytime there is no point in going to school for six hours a day to eventually get to what we want to learn.
35Bill Gates is a smart man and see's the needs of the future generation.
36-couldn't watch the video
37it was interesting
38It looks legit.
39I agree with Bill Gates.
40I think its a good idea of pushing new generations to new things cause our world needs new ideas and ways of thinking as we move farther and farther into our world
41Youtube is not working on my computer right now. Sorry.
42I didn't want to watch all 11 minutes. My opinion is below.
43I thing this is a good videos combined
44I think this video is very accurate on portraying what school is like today and what it should be like tomorrow. It is true that us as students learn differently and i personally think that if we are all taught using technology it would be better for us and it would be better for our futures.
45When I think of future education, I hope it becomes more interactive and more independant.
46I agree with the people on the video. The future we will have to rethink everything. Nothing will be the same. Technology will help us with everything. We might not see the future but our children will. The new use of digit decade, our children will be wired differently than we are. Unlike our parents, todays generation were brought up with a mouse in our hands and we know technology better than the older people.
47Very informative.
49dont really care...
5i think that if teachers gave more one on one and less homework then kids might like school more
50I was unable to view the video.
51I find this video fairly ironic because the gentlemen are talking about the system, importance and influences of schools. Particularly high schools, but it is on cyber school that is a computer. i also think the voice over is missing the point of schools. He says that schools are to learn by a teacher. As a student i can say that is not correct. Students do learn from the teachers, but we students learn from other students, technology, and experiments. This is the key for most people's educations. internet is valid, it is a great tool, but it isn't the only tool.
52I dont agree about digital communication, i think education should be student - teacher not computer, ect. - computer ect. .
53I think we need to evolve our education system and adapt to the changes of technology and learn through the computers and other electronics. We still need to teach the history of our world so that generations to come will still learn from the mistakes of the past.
54In the future students won't have the thrive to learn in America, instead foreign people are coming over to America and filling up our work system because they are such hard workers and work next to nothing from which country they came from. People think life is easier now that technology has pretty much taken over.
55couldn't see the video
56Education needs a teacher which is the best among technologies we uses for now, so far , internet become uncontrollable because of its use having disadvantages and advantages. For me classroom with a teacher is the best to attain my goals in education
57It would be nice for the teachers to understand that computers are part of our everyday life. and if they understand then we can make it fun while learning or even just help us learn.
58I think it is important that education doesn't become just on computers because students will loose good communication skills. Also i think it's important for students to work in a class with their peers so they learn to do group work.
6i think that the world has become more technologically based, and for effective teaching, teachers need to know about the benefits of using technolgy in their classrooms, inorder to engage the students
60I think technology can and will be used in schools
61Interesting.
62That blew my mind....
63Bill gates "Until we can design them [high schools] for this century we will continue to ruin minds".... I have my B.A (English & Art - Secondary).. I have seen this first hand. We try to band technology from the classroom... laptops are not allowed, cell phones cannot be used. What if teachers realized the phenomenon of having unlimited information at the fingertips of the child. The teacher needs to show the students how to locate the relevant information - no long can the teacher be the all knowing force in the classroom.
64This was a good video. It made me realize that the internet has more effect on everyone expecially, the youth. Since getting used to the internet myself, I do believe it's better then being in a classroom several hours a day. You have more serch engines and unlimited space to write, without hurting the enviourment(paper). Also I just wanted to say before there were 50, an 60 era's which changed every 10 years or more..now a days the era's happen every year or 2 years. Therefore the world is changing at a rapid speed. With the internet its a millon times faster...kinda scary.
65I think that education is changing very drastically and it is very different then what it used to be 10 years ago when there was very minimum use of internet for education internet could be a great source but at the same time it was negatives factors about it.
66I think that you guys should change the way teachers teach students because the generation now are different. We are more active and most of us learn faster then the older generation. We can adapt to situations easier with all the technology we have now to solve problems.
67although technology will enhance our learning ability, it may also corrupt our knowledge on knowing how to get out and have some fun outside. before children try to start learning through technology, the must know how to use it properly and safely and definitely not forget how to go old school and have fun with drawing and using their imagination. also learn to spell properly and not use spell check like i have a few time here. but i also agree the not everyone learns at the same pace. but that doesn't mean technology is the answer.
68Makes you think; valid points are made.
69In my opinion times have changed and there are so many great opperunites and methods for teaching. Eg having a healthcare back ground 9I am attending cyber school to upgrade my marks) The interactive tools that are available to us as students is far supperior to what can be taught in a lecture in the classroom on the same hand with out that prior lecture or information base the interactive digital tools are of no use. I think that there is a need to find a balance between class room lecture style and complete interactive web based solutions. Watching my nephews grow and learn what he is doing at 3 is far beyond what we were doing as children at that age and that is based on the interactive tools available (ipad etc) Now that being said we are a generation of little human interaction, texting instead of calling etc, I think it very important to be able to communicate one on one and carry on a converstation etc rather than texting or emailing. Classroom setting also prepares you for what the real world is like once you are in the work force, If you are not given the right tools while in your school years there is no way that society is going to be able to function. classroom settings build the skills of attendance, listening, taking turns, listening to what others have to say, developing social skills and so on. Cyber school is a great means of upgrading education. I am not sure that i would allow my child to take only cyber school as i feel classroom interaction is important. cyber school does teach you how to be disiplined in a different way that in a claasroom setting.
70I think that education constantly has to be update and relevant to the modern day today. It has to teach our children about the world so they can face the future today.
71strong powerfull video
72To be honest I felt like it was a bunch of old rich men talking about something they don't know much about based on their studies.
73Good foundation of education is best for the future.
74I think that schools should focus on the academic achievement of the students. If this means creating programs to keep up with technology, so be it.
75I agree with everything this video says. I grew up with technology and i'v done better on my classes online then i did in a classroom. In school there is so many distractions.
76i think they should have more courses were students go depending on their academic abilities not because of their age. The whole kindergarten to Grade 12 isn't very useful for some students if their academic abilities aren't as ready to do certain things as some other students may be. That's why i believe many students dislike school or skip school because they don't understand what they are learning because it isn't up to their academic level and then they feel stupid because many other students understand what is going on and don't want to get teased for being 'dumb' or 'stupid'. I believe that the internet is useful for school work as long as it is being used for only school things during the school day.
77I think that the ideas in this film are innovative and a good step towards a future that better enbraces our world of technologie. The classrooms that i learns in are still needed even if in the future we are divided by skill level instead of grade. I value immensely thelectures teachers give. I know for a fact that i do not do as well without a teacher or someone to xplain the material that i need help with to me. I am very capable of doing it on my own, but there are always times when i need the teachers help.
78I think the future education system needs to be more independant so students don't use teachers as their crutch.
79I think that this video has a very good point. I feel that the ways we teach children should be updated. I think that we have done all this research and psychology that proved that all children learn differently, and that the world today is a lot different than the world back when our ways of education was invented. So why dont we use this information? Why aren't our psychology and science studies being used? I don't see the point in researching if the information we come up with is not taught and used in society. I think that the education system needs to find ways to test children to find out how they will learn in the future, then accomidate thier needs, and not teach every child the same way. I do think that children need to learn about the future, and things that could be possible in the future, this way, that generation is ready for the future ahead of them because they know all the possibilities. I beileive that teaching children the history of the world is usless, because times back then aren't even possible now a days because our technology and discoveries, so what is the point in teaching it to us? I can't do anything about how the past all played out. We live TODAY. We will live the future. So I think they should show us the future, and how we can deal with it, and futurre issues. For example, how do we deal with human over population due to possible human cloning and humans living to extreme ages? How do we deal with technology over powering humans? How do we deal with technology possibly dominating human existance? Students need to be imformed on possible future matters so when the day comes in our lives, we know how to deal with the situation so less people get killed, or sick from the issue.
8I think it is really good.
80great video!!!!! :)
82I think that the classrooms at school need to be more involved with digital tools and new technologies. It would be helpful since the rest of the world is evolving and then we, the students, would be able to work better and understand easier in the real world.
83I think this is a great video. I think classrooms aren't going to be obsolete, but I think that they already aren't necessary in a lot of instances. This is my 8th online class, and I've loved being able to work at my own pace. Teachers are supposed to facilitate learning, and technology should be a large part of that because of how the world is changing. In my case, teachers were standing in my way because they had to teach to the class at a much slower pace. Technology (cyber school) has saved me a lot of frustration and anxiety.
84i think that this video has alot of truth in it i really never thought of it this was as the video shows us. Thinking of it we wont be getting any smarter just sitting in class learning the same stuff our grandparents have with a few changes.
85Its Nice :)
93very informational, many good points made and it was a little to lengthy.
94Changes need to be need to the education system in order to create a better future. Technology is going to play a much larger role in education in the near future. Adults must also accept this technology, and raise children differently than they themselves were raised. Children have different needs that must be met in order to become successful. Schools should stop blocking sites like Facebook and YouTube, as they can provide many benefits if used correctly. However, children should use this technology properly or have it taken away from them if they do not use it in the desired way, or misbehave.
95I think thateducation is important, and it is frusterating that creativity has been taken out of school, and it NEEDS to be put back into the curriculum.
96It won't load
97I think schools are just fine the way they are now.
99it is a real good video and shows alot of good things.
