Is too much information bad for us? – Simply Zesty - Simply Zesty:
"It might seem like a slightly odd question to ask if there’s such a thing as ‘too much information’. This is not intended to suggest that there’s such a thing as having access to too much information or content – indeed, the more information we can access the better, and all the more it contributes to a democratisation of the internet. But as social networks move towards more streamlined delivery of content , finding increasingly innovative ways to deliver us a summary of content and information online, we need to question the implications of this. Is there an inherent risk in this, that we begin to consume too much of the ‘headlines’ and less of the depth? For example, Facebook may present me with a summary story such as ’3 of your friends started using the Guardian Newsreader app’, but I’m not really any the wiser as to what they were reading. Summarising content is great, but it shouldn’t come (as it inevitably does) at the risk of a loss of depth and more detailed information."
